Football Star Cristiano Ronaldo Is Selling His Former Manchester Mansion
The world-renowned soccer player put the home on the market once before, back in 2009, when he left Old Trafford for Spanish team Real Madrid
It’s been nearly a decade since Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United, the soccer star bought the three-story brick house in England 11 years ago. Having left Manchester United almost a decade ago, it’s no surprise that international soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is ready to bid farewell to his home in the affluent English village of Alderley Edge, just 15 miles away from his former playing ground at Old Trafford.
The home, located in the posh English village of Alderley Edge, is comprised of five bedrooms spread out across three stories, and is currently on the market for $4.1 million (Ronaldo attempted to sell it once previously, back in 2009, after he left Old Trafford for Spanish team Real Madrid). Even if he were to find a buyer willing to shell out full price, this would mark a loss for the star athlete, who bought the home for $4.88 million back in 2006. Ronaldo also previously rented out the home to former teammate Luke Shaw in 2014 for $8,900 a month.
While the exterior of the home is fairly traditional, with redbrick and clean-lined, rectangular windows, the interior of the home is full of charm, with a perhaps surprisingly Gothic aesthetic: The decor is almost exclusively black, including a large black shag and cowhide rugs, a plush charcoal-gray couch and sheer black curtains in the bedroom. Standout features of the home include a massive chef’s kitchen with top-end appliances and black-and-white lacquer countertops, a large indoor pool with adjoining hot tub and steam room, a cinema room, a game room, and, of course, a gym. Three of the five bedrooms are en suite, with the master suite boasting two adjoining bathrooms and a walk-in closet.
Property website Rightmove said of the home: “This stunning gated home is situated in an elevated position within this prime area, with stunning far-reaching views. Excellent location for Alderley Edge village center, where you will find a fantastic range of shopping boutiques, restaurants, and bars.” At present, Ronaldo and his family—including partner Georgina Rodriguez and their four children—live in Italy, where he played his debut season for Juventus F.C. this past fall.
